Biscuits and Gravy, Anyone?

Pork belly is in. Bacon is blazing hot. Bone marrow is tres chic. Even lard is no longer a four-letter word.

But biscuits and sausage gravy? I'm trying to convince Sumi at Europane that her customers (i.e. me) are craving this comfort breakfast, but she's not buyin' it. And that's too bad.

Until I can make it to Willit's, California, or anywhere in West Virginia, I've decided to make my own biscuits and gravy and submit the recipes and photographs to Blazing Hot Wok's Regional American Food Roundup for April.

There's just one problem: Will I be able to find anyone willing to share a batch of biscuits smothered in artery-hardening sausage gravy with me before April 15 (the deadline for submissions)?

Come on. It's just once a year. Anyone? Anyone?

Man, SC, you're suddenly giving me an urge to toss my dog bones and sniff around for the nearest biscuits & gravy! Thanks for at least not putting up a pic of the temptation.

Why before 4/15, SC?

I'm sure you can find help with your dilemma. I've had the Mac and Cheese and I still dream of it. I suspect you'll do your southern folk proud.

CO, 4-15 is the deadline for the American Food Roundup. I cook best under deadline.

PA, I still don't have any takers. :(

I've been fighting temptation for several days now, but temptation has won -- I'd love to come too, unless it's too late or you have too many!

Would love to have you join us, Deborah. We now have a guest list of eight. (I'll email details.)

I've lived in So. Cal. for 33 years, and this is the first time I've been able to get anyone to eat biscuits and gravy with me.

That's because biscuits and gravy are best eaten at five in the morning at a truck stop on the way to somewhere, anywhere.

Have fun! I look forward to the detailed results

One more?

Desiree, you're right. I've had some of my best biscuits and gravy at greasy spoons on lonely highways in the middle of nowhere.

AH, of course. I'll email details.

Gosh, Susan. It's times like these I could just cry over my wheat allergy. I LOVVVVVEEEEEEE biscuits and gravy and, as far as I know, there is not a good rice flour biscuit recipe.

Sigh.
